Closing date for the Gauteng school admissions process for 2024
Applications for school entrance in 2024 are now being accepted by the Gauteng Department of Education. Students in grades 1 through 8 may apply throughout this time period.
Parents and guardians were given access to apply for grade 1 and 8 school placements in Gauteng from 15 June. These applications have to be submitted on the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) admissions website.
Parents have until July 21 to provide all of the schools they’ve applied to their supporting documentation. Up to July 31st, schools will review documents, give parents evidence of delivery, and update applicants’ document statuses in the system.
When must I submit my application, then?
This application period is expected to end on 14 July at midnight, giving parents a month to apply for school admission. GDE is expected to open late applications in December.
Parents apply to schools with open spots during the late application period and submit paperwork.
Parents are urged to gather all the information and documents needed for the application procedure before beginning.
For students who need extra assistance, this could include identification as a resident of the area, birth certificates, and any pertinent medical records or special needs papers.
This is how to apply:
- Go to the GDE Admissions website
- Register an account
- Fill in current home address details
- Fill in parents work address details
- Fill in learner’s personal details
- Complete the school application form online.
- Upload all documents by using the upload function on the system
Once parents begin the online application process, they must complete it in one session and complete all steps.
For security and verification purposes, every stage of the application process will be validated via SMS, thus it’s critical that parents supply an accurate cell phone number.
When are students going to be placed?
Parents will begin getting placement offers through SMS starting on September 4. Each offer has a seven-day window for parents to accept or reject it.
